Reading is Fun Week is Coming!
Reading is fun week will be from March 4th -March 8th
Reading is fun week is a fundraiser in which students raise funds for their respective classes via a read-a-thon!
Your student will receive a packet of information regarding our event this Friday, March 1st. Please review this information.
To make the event more exciting, we will have dress-up days presented by our leadership class coinciding with our week. Please see below.

Camp Read

Come be a part of our inaugural Camp Read happening on March 7th!
This evening affair promises a lineup of captivating activities like reading circles, exclusive meet-and-greets with guest authors, dynamic literacy booths, and gourmet bites from local food trucks. See the flyer below for more details!

Fresno Grizzlies Partnership


We're thrilled to share the news of our collaboration with the Fresno Grizzlies! Every student will receive a special bookmark designed to monitor their reading achievements. Those who meet their reading targets will be rewarded with two complimentary tickets to a future game of the Fresno Grizzlies.


Students who participate and read ten books in 5 weeks receive two free tickets to a select “Wild About Reading” Grizzlies game in 2024 (dates listed below).


Students log their reading progress using the bookmark on one side of the double sheet (directions can be found next to the bookmark).


They will have to read 10 books in 5 weeks to receive their two free tickets (which is the voucher on the other side of the bookmark).

Redemption Dates:

While each school was assigned a specific date, please note that the following dates are universally valid for voucher redemption:

Flexibility:

Students can redeem their vouchers for a game date different from the one initially marked on the voucher. This ensures that families can choose a date that best suits their schedule.


Community Skate Night

Our Parent Association will be hosting the first skating party of the year!

Date: February 16th, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Admission is $7 dollars, which includes skate rentals

This event is open to students and their families. As long as there is a McSwain student present, your group can go in!

Attendance Policies

An essential aspect of our educational program revolves around student attendance. In order to offer our students the highest quality educational experience, they must be present at school and arrive punctually.
Consistent attendance is pivotal to a student's academic progress, social and emotional growth, and overall success.


We kindly request that students not be withdrawn from school without valid reasons.


We do understand that there may be occasions when a student needs to be absent. If such circumstances arise, we request that you please notify the school office.



Technology Tip

We wanted to send a reminder about Chromebook care. In working with our library technicians, we want to ensure Mustangs handle their Chromebooks with care.
Broken Screens do occur but can be easily avoided with correct handling.


Common mishandlings:

Dropping the device on a hard surface without it being in a zippered case

Closing the lid with an object on the keyboard (i.e., paper clip, pencil, pen, etc.)

Stepping on the Chromebook with or without a case

Throwing the Chromebook with or without a case

Horseplay results in a Chromebook being knocked off a desk or used as a weapon.


Screen Repair Costs: $50.00


Please continue to be careful with your Chromebooks and their handling.

As students receive their Chromebooks, they review procedures alongside their teachers and librarians. Feel free to use this Chromebook slide deck to check with your child at home.

Minimum Day

We will have a minimum day on Wednesday, January 31st

Dismissal for West Campus will be at 12:50 p.m.

Dismissal for East Campus is at 12:00 p.m.

The pick-up logistics are the same as they are on a regular day; the only difference is that East Campus is dismissed first.

Once a month, we will be hosting a forum called Coffee with Mr. Pannu. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss ongoing events here at Mcswain and how we could continue to strengthen the partnership between our school and our students and families. Our next session will be at 8:30 am in the West Campus Cafeteria on 1/26/24


Our meeting will focus on NWEA testing here at McSwain!

For parents who cannot make the meeting, we will also upload a presentation copy onto our website and broadcast it live on our YouTube page.

Donuts and Coffee will be served.

This is open to all Parents! Spanish Translation will be available.

Great Kindness Challenege
We are excited to announce that next week our school will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in a week-long series of activities aimed at promoting kindness, empathy, and positive behavior.
Each day will have a different theme and activity, encouraging our children to perform acts of kindness both in and out of school. This event not only fosters a supportive and caring school environment but also helps our students develop important social and emotional skills.
We encourage you as parents to participate by discussing and practicing kindness at home. Together, we can create a ripple effect of kindness in our community. Looking forward to a week filled with smiles and warm hearts!

Old Town Atwater Skating Ring


We are excited to share some wonderful news with you! Our community partners have organized a special event for the students of McSwain School and the surrounding community. Each student has been gifted a complimentary pass, which includes free admission and skate rental, to enjoy a fun-filled day at the renowned Skating Ring located in downtown Atwater. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience the joy of ice skating and create lasting memories. We encourage all students to take advantage of this unique offer and join in the fun!
