Eligibility for graduation

Academics:

A student will receive a diploma and participate in the graduation ceremony if he/she has:

A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00, based on end of year grades, during the 7th and 8th grade.

Two trimester ‘F’s” in any one subject during the same school year during 7th or 8th grades may prevent a student from receiving a diploma and participating in graduation activities.

Special Education and English Language Learner (ELL) students may have differential standards or accommodations made per E.C. 51215/51216.

Conduct:

A student may not be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony or end of the year activities if he/she has three “strikes” for the third trimester of their 8th grade year.

Strike = 1 suspension (at home or in-house) or two (2) major referrals.

Students not meeting academic requirements for graduation are also ineligible for specified end of year 8th grade activities or trips.
