Parking Tips and Tricks

Dear Parents and Guardians,


We hope this email finds you well. As we get into a routine, we want to remind you of the importance of safe parking practices on and around our school campus.

Your commitment to the following parking guidelines helps ensure the safety and well-being of all students, staff, and families.


Drop-Off and Pick-Up Zones

Please utilize the designated drop-off and pick-up zones for your children. Stopping at non-designated areas may disrupt traffic flow and poses a safety risk.



Speed Limit

Always observe the speed limit on school grounds and the street. Do not speed.


Accessible Parking

Accessible parking spaces are strictly reserved for vehicles displaying an appropriate handicap permit. Violators will be reported and may be fined.


Be Mindful of Pedestrians

Always yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and be alert for children who may dart into the street.


Morning Drop off on West Campus

Please pull up to maximize space.

Do not drop off students at the corner of the parking lot. Students can stay in the car until they come to a complete stop and get out to walk.

Staff members are on hand to help assist students exit the car.

Students are to always exit from the passenger side.


Coffee with Mr.P!

Once a month, we will be hosting a forum called Coffee with Mr. Pannu. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss ongoing events here at Mcswain and how we could continue to strengthen the partnership between our school and our students and families. Our first session of the year will be Thursday, 8/24, at 8:15 am in the West Campus Cafeteria.

Our meeting will focus on our Blended Learning academic initiative here at McSwain!

For parents unable to make the meeting, we will also upload a presentation copy onto our website.

Donuts and Coffee will be served.

This is open to all Parents! Spanish Translation will be available.

McSwain Swag for Sale

If you want to purchase a McSwain T-shirt, we currently sell them in the East Campus office before and after school.

The cost of the T-shirt is $20.






Transportation Change Requests

Reminder, we use an online digital form for any transportation changes. This will help expedite the transportation change process.

All transportation requests need to be made by 11 am.

After 11 am, the form will close, and requests cannot be made. The deadline allows MOT to notify all stakeholders and ensure student safety.

The online form is on our website's Student and Families Resources Tab.




Light Repair Highway 140

We have been in contact with CALTRANS regarding the lights on Highway 140

They have been on-site and are working on repairs

We will notify the community of any possible delays

Mustang Pride Fridays

As part of a cherished tradition at McSwain, we invite all students to show their Mustang pride every Friday! We encourage students to wear their Blue and White or any McSwain gear they have to celebrate our school spirit.


Throughout the year, we will sell McSwain Swag to our community. Keep your eyes peeled for these fantastic items – they will be a great way to show off your Mustang pride!


College Mondays

Starting next week, we are introducing ‘College Mondays’! Every Monday, we invite students and staff to wear apparel from their favorite colleges and universities.

It’s a wonderful way for our students to start thinking about higher education and perhaps find new inspiration for their futures. As a proud former student of UC Davis, I will be wearing my Aggies gear with pride. Go Aggies!

As the school year begins, we acknowledge that transitioning back can be challenging. It's normal to need time to settle into new routines and find your flow. One such area is that of parking and pick up. We're here to support you every step of the way. Let's make this year successful and positive together!

School Start and End Times

The first bell rings at 8:10 am, with the start of school at 8:15 am for both East and West Campus.
West Campus dismissal is at 2:00 pm
East Campus dismissal is at 2:50 pm

Parking Tips and Tricks


Arrive early for drop-off. Students are allowed to enter campus by 7:30 am.
If you arrive late or close to the start of school, you will be in traffic.
Follow the designated routes. If you do not, there is a negative impact on our procedure, and you will be in more traffic. See yesterday's email and the lovely Maps!
For pick-up, please make sure to show up at the correct time.
A tip for pick-up on the East campus is that If you are running late in the afternoon, students are under the supervision of an adult. Coming after the original wave of traffic will also help expedite pick-up.
As seen this morning, CHP will continue to patrol and enforce traffic laws.

It is back-to-school week! As we eagerly prepare for students' return this week, look at the information below.


Data Confirmation

Please log in to your Aeries teacher-student portal and complete the data confirmation process.
This process is essential as it lets you see your child's grades, teachers, and bussing information. It also authorizes your student's picture in the yearbook.
Please pay special attention to the Supplemental tab under student info, as this houses your child's transportation information and has been updated today with bussing times.

RAPTOR ID Check-in System Reminder

Your child's safety is our number one priority.
A reminder that starting the first day of school, we will begin to use the RAPTOR ID check-in system as part of the entry procedures.
We will introduce mandatory ID checks for all guests that come to campus.
This helps verify visitors' identity and instills a more controlled environment, dissuading potential threats.
While our commitment has always been the safety of our students and staff, this proactive step will ensure that we continue to make McSwain the safest school possible.
Please continue to be on the lookout for additional information regarding our safety protocols.

The event is divided into two sections.
Grades TK/K will meet on West Campus starting at 4:30 pm.
Grades 1-3 will meet on West Campus from 5:00 to 5:45 pm.
Grades 4-8 will meet on East Campus from 6:00- 6:45 pm.
Grades 7-8 will meet their teachers in the East Campus gym.
We will have a 15-minute transition time to allow families to visit both campuses.
I am pleased to announce that we will have our very own McSwain leadership students serving as ambassadors to help assist parents and students.

Parent Involvement on Campus
McSwain Foundation
The McSwain Education Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dedicated to raising money and giving it back to programs that benefit our students at McSwain.
The foundation is comprised of a Board of Directors that is made up of parents, grandparents, teachers, and community members.
Please take a look at their latest newsletter! And be on the lookout for our annual Mustang Night fundraiser and upcoming meetings!

Mcswain Parent Club
The mission of the McSwain Community Club is to promote the educational and social development of all children attending McSwain School through fundraising, personal power, and event coordination, which are directed toward meeting the needs of students, staff, community, and parents.
All parents and community members are welcomed and encouraged to attend and participate in meetings. There are no dues or membership fees.
Be on the lookout for upcoming meeting information.

Dear McSwain Elementary Community,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. As we approach the beginning of another school year, I want to welcome all of you warmly. To our returning families, welcome back! And to our new families, we are excited to have you join our community.

Last year was filled with challenges, triumphs, and a multitude of lessons. I am so proud of how our community supported one another. This year, we look forward to building upon the strength and resilience of our community as we continue to make McSwain Elementary a safe, inclusive, and stimulating place for our children to learn.

As your principal, it is essential that everyone who steps through our doors — teachers, students, and family members — is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. Our skilled and devoted staff are already planning and preparing for your children. Our enthusiastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials, and updating student files. Our hardworking and conscientious custodians have thoroughly cleaned the facility the entire summer.

Furthermore, we are enthusiastically preparing for robust extracurricular programs and designing engaging and innovative lesson plans to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to ensure that all students become critical thinkers, active problem-solvers, inquisitive readers, diligent researchers, and prolific writers. We do all this to prepare your children for the demands of the real world, so they may become productive citizens, become our future leaders, and contribute and give back to their community.

I look forward to partnering with you as a critical part of your child's education. We value your input and participation in our vibrant school community. Working together strengthens us and ensures our students achieve their most ambitious goals.

As we prepare for our return, please be on the lookout for upcoming announcements. One date that I would like to put on your calendar is our Meet Your Teacher night on August 15th; this is where you'll have the opportunity to meet your child's teachers and our staff before the start of school.
