Hello McSwain Families!


I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Here are a few updates.


Dropping Items Off

Academic time is critical for students learning and development. In turn, we want to ensure that we are respecting educational learning time and not interrupting the learning.


The office will not interrupt learning for items that need to be picked up. We want to maximize learning time.

If your student has forgotten an item, you can leave it in the office. It is their responsibility to come and grab it during their break and or transition time.

If a student is on the West Campus, we will work on calling for the student at a non-instructional time.

For students on the East Campus, it is the responsibility of the student to come during transition time.

If any student on campus forgets a lunch, do not worry; we will be able to provide one to them.

Thank you for your assistance and our continued focus on increasing learning.


Drop Off Tips

Please follow the steps below to speed up dropping off students in the morning.

Have your students ready to exit the vehicle with all of their belongings

You do not need to get out and walk them to the gate.

Once you are in the parking lot, please pull up to the curb; you do not need to wait until you are directly in front of the gate.

As we continue to look at our drop-off procedures, we will continue to update our community.


Parent Club Meeting

The McSwain Parent Club will meet on 8/29 at 6 pm in the West Campus Cafeteria. This is open to all! Please come and join us!


Pop Up People's Pantry

Open to all families! Feel free to stop by and pick up some fresh produce

Homecoming Float Building

McSwain Elementary will participate in the Atwater High School Homecoming Parade! The parade will be on September 23rd.

Our Leadership Class has worked with Atwater High School Leadership, and we have settled on two float themes. A Star Wars Theme and Monster Inc! More information to come.

Thank you for a fantastic first week of school. Now that we are in full swing, we wanted to share information regarding upcoming community events. Please take a look at the announcements below.


Key Announcements


Principles Coffee!

Once a month, we will be hosting a forum called principles coffee. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss ongoing events here at Mcswain and how we could continue to strengthen the partnership between our school and our students and families. Our first principles Coffee will be next Friday, 8/26, at 8:30 am in the West Campus Cafeteria.


The focus of our first meeting will be on student assessment data.
We will look at the leading assessments we use here at Mcswain and how we can best help support our student's academic growth.
For parents unable to make the meeting, we will also upload a presentation copy onto our website.
Donuts and Coffee will be served.

Homecoming Float Building

I am pleased to announce that McSwain will participate in the Atwater High School Homecoming Parade! The parade will be on September 23rd. As we prepare for float building, we will send out additional information next week.


Community Meetings


As seen during Meet Your Teacher, we have two fantastic community groups on campus. We have our Parent Club and our McSwain Foundation. Please see their upcoming meeting information. Both meetings are open to all parents!


Our Mcswain Foundation will be hosting its next meeting on Tuesday, 8/23, at 6:30 pm in our Boardroom.
The McSwain Parent Club will be meeting on 8/29 at 6 pm in the West Campus Cafeteria.

Mustang Pride

Hello McSwain Families,

Now that we are back in full swing, we want to announce a couple of community-building items. On Mondays, students are encouraged to wear university or college gear. At McSwain, we are developing lifelong learners and want to help promote a culture of higher education.

In addition, on Fridays, we will show our Mustang pride by wearing blue and white clothing. For all weekly dress-up days, please remember that the items worn must meet the characteristics of the school dress code.

Meet Your Teacher Night!

Hello McSwain Families,

As we gear up for the first day of school, I wanted to send you a few updates regarding our Meet Your Teacher event and student schedules. As you know, we want to alleviate students' anxiety in attending the first day of school. In seeing their classroom and meeting their teacher, students will be clear on where they need to go. This will also allow for less traffic during our morning drop-off on the first day of school. Please take a moment to read the announcements below.

Important Information
Meet Your Teacher Night will be on August 16th from 5:00 to 6:45 pm. The event is divided into the East Campus and the West Campus.
Grades TK/K will have a separate welcome orientation starting at 4:30 pm.
Grades 1-3 will meet with their students from 5:00 to 5:45 pm.
Grades 4-8 will meet with their students from 6:00 to 6:45 pm.
To determine your student teacher and schedule, please log into Aeries and complete your digital orientation packet. Once completed, you will be able to see your student's teacher.
This feature will go live on Friday; please make sure to check your email for further directions.

West Campus (5:00 to 5:45 pm)
Students will meet with their teacher from 5:00- 5:15 pm (Rotation 1)
Rotation 2 will be 5:15- 5:30pm
Having two rotations will allow parents to visit more than one classroom
5:30 pm, all TK-3rd grade teachers will meet in the quad for an introduction
5:45 pm to 6:00 pm Transition to the East Campus

East Campus (6:00- 6:45pm)
Rotation 1 will be from 6:00-6:15 pm; students will meet with their teacher in their respective rooms; 7th and 8th-grade teachers will be in the Gym.
Rotation 2 will be from 6:15 pm to 6:30 pm,
6:30- 6:45 pm East Campus Introductions in front of the Gym

Parking
Due to the number of individuals on campus, please be careful when parking and follow all traffic laws.
McSwain staff will be using the parking nearest the Gym. These spots are reserved for them.

Help and Assistance
Our fantastic office staff will have a help desk set up in the East Campus cafeteria. Here you can find your child's schedule, free and reduced lunch applications, and ask for any additional assistance.
We will also have a welcome table from our McSwain Parent Foundation and our Parent Teacher Association; please make sure to stop by and say hello! These tables will be located outside of the main gate on the East Campus.
If you cannot make the event, we will have volunteers and staff available to assist all students on the first day of school. They will need to check in at our welcome table to receive their teacher listing and schedule.

The parent portal for Aeries will NOT be open till Friday evening. At that time, you will be able to log in. Once you have created your login using the phone number and email address that you have provided to the school you will receive an email with information to link your child to your account. If you do not know your password, please hit forgot password, and an email will be sent with instructions on how to set it up.

Hello McSwain Families!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year; I wanted to reach out and introduce myself. I am Mr. Pannu, and am excited to be the Principal for the upcoming school year. For the families who are returning to McSwain this year, we are glad to see you back; for our incoming families, we are excited to get to know you.

As we get closer to our first day of school, we will be sending out additional information regarding school policy, classroom information, and drop-off and pick-up information.

One event I did want to place on everyone’s calendar is our inaugural Meet Your Teacher Night! In speaking with our community, we wanted to provide you and your student an opportunity to come and meet your teacher before the first day of school. We know that the first day of school can bring excitement and challenges, and we want students to connect with their teachers and see their classroom locations.

Save the Date, August 16th, Meet Your Teacher Night!
We will be sending more information out regarding this event next week!
Grades TK/KStart Time will be 4:30 pm on West Campus
Grades 1- 3 (West Campus 5:00-5:45 pm)
Grades 4-8 (East Campus 6:00- 6:45pm)

The First Day of School is August 17th
The daily class schedule, TK- 3rd Grade, will be from 8:15 am- 2:15 pm
Grades 4-8 will be from 8:15 am to 2:30 pm

As mentioned, we will send more information out as we get closer to the start of school. Please be on the lookout for additional information.
