Hello McSwain Community,
I hope you are well. I am excited to share some great news about an initiative returning to McSwain this year.
A key component of education is the notion of mastery. When a student does not master a concept, it is our responsibility as educators to review, reteach, and provide support until understanding is achieved. This is what strong teaching looks like every day, ensuring that students have a firm foundation before moving on to new lessons.
This year, we are thrilled to welcome two new positions to the McSwain family: Mrs. Jantz and Mrs. Cherie White, who will serve as our Math and Reading Clinicians. Their work will be focused on mastery-based instruction, providing targeted support for students who need additional time and attention to solidify key skills.
This approach is part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) model that we use at McSwain:
-
Tier 1: High-quality, general classroom instruction for all students.
-
Tier 2: Targeted small-group interventions for students who need additional support.
-
Tier 3: Intensive, individualized interventions for students with the greatest need.
Our clinicians will play a vital role in strengthening Tiers 2 and 3, ensuring that students who need more support receive it in a focused and timely way.
I also want to thank Ms. Marci White and Ms. Carroll for their input and guidance in helping us shape this model, and our staff for working hand in hand with them to bring back clinicians at McSwain.
Together, these new clinicians and our dedicated teachers will continue to provide the best education possible for our students. We look forward to sharing the academic growth that comes from this critical work.
Best,
Mr. Pannu
