Transportation Update

Dear McSwain Community,

I want to be transparent with you regarding our current transportation situation. In the past three weeks, we have lost three of our bus drivers. Unlike some school districts that have had to completely eliminate transportation services, we remain committed to providing transportation for as many students as possible.

However, the loss of these drivers will have an impact on timing. For example, in the afternoons, we will be implementing a holdover group system. This means that your child may need to wait up to an hour under the supervision of a school employee until a bus becomes available.

Daily Delays

Due to our current driver shortage, the following daily delays will be in effect until further notice:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

91 West – 45-minute delay

91 East – 45-minute delay

92 East – 1-hour delay

Wednesday (Minimum Day)

91 West – 1-hour delay

92 West – 1-hour delay

Sports Transportation: McSwain will not provide transportation to athletic events this year. Families are responsible for arranging rides to and from games as has been done in the past.

As we shared a few weeks ago, if you can pick up your student at the end of the day, it would greatly help reduce the pressure on our transportation system and ease the capacity challenges we are currently facing. Your support in this way allows us to focus our limited bus resources on students who have no other transportation options.

Transportation Request Form.

We continue to actively recruit and hire additional drivers, and with the support of our community, we will meet this challenge together. In the meantime, please consider reviewing alternative transportation options that may work for your family.

Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we navigate this transition.

Sincerely,
Mr. Pannu
