Food nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, wellbeing and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

We are pleased to inform you that McSwain School will be continuing the option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the California Universal Meals Program. Great news for you and your students! This means ALL enrolled students of McSwain School will be offered one free healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge each day of the 2025-2026 school year.

Although McSwain School is participating in the California Universal Meals Program, it is still important to complete a free and reduced lunch application. The benefits may include additional programs and funding for students, their families and the school.

Meals, foods and beverages served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Nutrition Standards for Schools. Our school lunch program is operated under the federally funded National School Lunch Program and is administered by the United States Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Education.

McSwain School offers Free breakfast (7:30-8:15) and lunch (10:40-12:50) daily during the school year.
